Imidacloprid 30.5% SC
Suspension Concentrate (SC)
Shelldrite Foundation’s active ingredient, Imidacloprid, disrupts termites’ nervous systems, leading to paralysis and death. Due to termites’ natural behaviour of trophallaxis (sharing food and fluids), the insecticide spreads through the colony, resulting in comprehensive elimination. Effectiveness depends on correct application, dosage, soil type, moisture levels, termite species, and colony size.
Does not kill termites immediately on contact, allowing more termites to become exposed and transfer the insecticide throughout the colony.
Creates a powerful “domino effect,” eliminating entire termite colonies through natural food-sharing behaviour (trophallaxis).
Non-repellent; termites cannot detect its presence, ensuring maximum effectiveness.
Odourless formula for comfortable and convenient application.
Provides reliable, long-lasting residual protection for both pre-construction and post-construction treatments.
Safe when handled according to the recommended safety guidelines.
Available in 1-litre and 250ml bottles.
250mL bottle (yields 119L) and 1L bottle (yields 476L).
Shelldrite Foundation is applied as a soil treatment:
Pre-construction Soil Treatment: Applied to the soil before construction to prevent termite infestations in new buildings.
Post-construction Soil Treatment: Applied to the soil around existing buildings to control existing termite infestations and provide ongoing protection.
Handle the concentrate with care.
Poisonous when swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin.
Toxic to fish, bees and other animals.
Limit all unnecessary personal contact.
Wear protective clothing, eyewear, gloves, faceshield and respirator.
Use in a well-ventilated area. Atmosphere should be regularly checked against established exposure standards.
Avoid contact with incompatible materials.
When handling, DO NOT eat, drink or smoke.
Keep containers securely sealed when not in use.
Avoid physical damage to containers.
Always wash hands with soap and water after handling. Washing must be prolonged (at least 15 minutes) if in contact with skin or eyes.
Work clothes should be laundered separately.
Use good occupational work practice.
Observe manufacturer’s storage and handling recommendations contained within the SDS.
In case of poisoning, call a doctor and make the label available.
Symptoms of human poisoning: Imidacloprid can cause neurological stimulation and convulsions.
Toxic to fish, bees and other animals.
Avoid application near water bodies or areas where it may contaminate food or feed.
Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Dispose of empty containers and unused product in accordance with local regulations. The Premise SDS also indicates that Imidacloprid is very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
Foundation and service trenches and foundation walls
The bottom and sides of foundation and service trenches, must be treated at the rate of 5L mixture per linear metre. Service trenches must be treated for their full length, inside the building. All inner foundation walls must be treated on both sides and outer foundation walls on the inside, at a rate of 5L mixture per linear metre.
Soil surface under floor slabs
Apply 5L mixture per 1m2 on the soil surface, where the floor will be cast. Ensure that the coverage is good where cables and / or piping enter the building.
Suspended floors
The surface of the crawl space and the enclosing walls must be treated at a rate of 5L mixture / 1m2. Ensure that the coverage is good where cables and / or piping enter the building.
Pile and beam construction
The bottom surface of pile and beam foundations, must be treated at the rate of 5L mixture / 1m2. after compaction and before the concrete is cast.
Unexposed soil surfaces
Apply 5L of the mixture per 1m2 on the soil surface, where paving. entrance steps, verandas etc. will be connected to the structure.
POST CONSTRUCTION REMEDIAL APPLICATION
Permeter treatment
Dig a 30cm wide trench, around the exterior perimeter of the foundations and as deep as the top of the footing. Apply 5L mixture / linear metre of the trench. Both the sides and bottom of the trench must be adequately covered by the application. The trench must be backfilled and compacted. This treatment must be done in sections of 3 - 6m at a time, in order not to weaken the foundations.
Solid floors
Drill holes approximately 1m apart through the floor, around the inside perimeter of each room, and around the outside perimeter of the structure. Holes should be drilled to the top of the footing of the foundation. If the design of the building is such, that vertical holes cannot be drilled through the floor along with outside perimeter, then horizontal holes, approx. 1m apart, must be drilled from the outside through the foundation wall, into the soil underneath the solid floors. Apply 5L mixture / hole. Holes should be suitably sealed after application.
Suspended floors
Where possible, a 30cm wide trench should be dug around the inside of the foundation walls, as deep as the top of the footing and treated with 5L mixture per linear metre. The trench must be backfilled and compacted. This treatment must be done in sections of 3 - 6m at a time, in order not to weaken the foundations. Treat the surface of the crawl space and the enclosing walls, at a rate of 5L mixture/m2. The treated surfaces should not be disturbed. If there is no access to the sub-floor, access openings should be cut into the floorboards and the treatment carried out as described above. The removed sections must be replaced after application and sealed. Where no crawl space exists, holes can be drilled through the floor at regular intervals and the soil surface flooded with the mixture at a rate of 5L mixture/m2. The holes must be plugged and sealed after application.
IF IN EYES: Wash immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical advice.
IF SWALLOWED: Try to induce vomiting. Seek medical advice (show the label to the doctor). Keep the victim under medical control. Do not induce vomiting in case of consciousness disorders.
IF ON SKIN: Wash immediately with water and soap if possible for at least 15 minutes.
Note to physician: Imidacloprid is slowly absorbed. Gastric lavage, saline purgative and activated charcoal may reduce absorption. No specific antidote is known. Treat symptomatically and monitor respiratory and cardiac functions.
Imidacloprid 30.5% SC is an IRAC Group Code 4A insecticide.
To delay insecticide resistance, avoid exclusive repeated use of insecticides from the same group code.
Alternate or tank-mix with products from different insecticide group codes. Refer to applicable individual product labels for tank mixing.
Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into pest control programmes.
